From New York thrift stores to the streets of Paris, Winston Jones - better known as @HangingWithMrJones on Instagram and SubStack - has built a loyal following through his thoughtful approach to menswear, culture and personal style. A storyteller, educator and one of the most engaging voices in fashion content today, his perspective is shaped as much by curiosity as it is by clothing.

For Winston Jones, style has never existed in a vacuum. It's tied to memory, family, music, food and the everyday rituals that shape who we are. Whether he's talking about a pearl snap button denim shirt he's been wearing since childhood, the importance of Sunday dinners, or the perfect iced Americano, his answers reveal a deep appreciation for the things that endure.

Born and raised in New York City, Jones has developed a point of view that feels both personal and universal - informed by a lifetime of exploration, from digging through thrift store racks to discovering new creative communities abroad. As he looks towards building a family of his own, it's clear that culture, tradition and storytelling remain at the heart of everything he does.

We caught up with Mr. Jones to talk favourite songs, meaningful traditions, unforgettable meals and the wardrobe pieces he'll never let go.

What’s your Coffee/Matcha order?

My go-to order as of late is an iced Americano with a hint of simple syrup. No matter the weather!

What are your Top 3 songs on repeat right now?

My top 3 songs at the moment are Pure Fantasy by Brent Faiyaz, As By Stevie Wonder, and Liberian Girl by Michael Jackson. Classics!

What one thing do you always have in your bag?

I’m never without my chapstick and a student metro card! My fiancee can't stand dry lips!

What one cultural tradition would you like to pass down?

It would have to be Sunday dinner and baking. I've recently made it a priority with my family and I look forward to keeping that up.

What are the pieces in your closet that you will never part with?

A pearl snap button denim shirt and green cargo pants. I've owned multiple pairs since, quite literally, the 4th grade. My mom would always have one in rotation from Old Navy, GAP or even Ralph Lauren.

Is there a city you feel most connected with outside of your hometown?

I don’t think I’ve been to too many cities as of yet, but Paris resonates with me the most. It has the attraction of NYC with the pace of a smaller town.

What 3 Creators are you loving right now?

These guys have a great aesthetic that really resonates with me, @Jalil_Johnson_, @JabariSandifer and @OKDeon

Is there a dish you’ve eaten at a restaurant that you always think about?

I'm a Thai food enthusiast and one dish I'll never not love is the Crab Fried Rice and Branzino from @FishCheeksNYC. Never fails me.

What’s your favourite movie of all time?

I could watch Pursuit of Happiness or Coming to America on repeat.
