This week’s playlist is dedicated to breaking one of the laziest stereotypes in global music culture: the belief that Punjabi music begins and ends with that one token Punjabi MC track every DJ thinks they’re being “fun” by throwing on. Enough.

Punjabi music has evolved, exploded, and shapeshifted into something far more modern, global, stylish, and emotionally layered - and it’s time everyone caught up.

We’re spotlighting the artists rewriting the sound completely. From Raf Saperra’s gritty UK-Punjabi edge and even edgier music videos, Karan Aujla’s polished global swagger, to Diljit Dosanjh’s superstar sheen, and Param's fresh takes, among many others, that deserve far more volume. This isn’t “play it ironically at 1am at the house party” Punjabi music - this is fully contemporary, fashion-adjacent, world-class sound.
