In the skincare game, there are often claims that are exaggerated, or marketed as a miracle cure-all for wellness and health of aging skin. The efficacy of red light therapy is not in question, however. Any time I make skincare recommendations to friends and family, a precursor to the conversation is always “ageing is a privilege – but you can find the right tools to help you do it in the most effective way.”
Red light therapy is one my first recommendations, out the gate. It has shown efficacy for a range of conditions, including improving skin health (wrinkles, acne, wound healing, collagen production) and lightening of scars. It stimulates collagen production, which can lead to improved skin elasticity, reduced fine lines, and smoother skin, helps with wound healing and can reduce inflammation from conditions like acne and psoriasis, and can help with hyperpigmentation and reduce discolouration and swelling from harsh laser treatments.
It is a proven effective tool backed by scientific testing.
Although you can’t just trust a red light face mask off Amazon and expect that to work. For it to be effective, it needs to within a certain range of nm, and needs to come with proven, peer-reviewed case studies. Luckily, you don’t have to do that, I’ve done that for you. Below are our top-rated red light therapy devices.
