Take the leap, kickstart your vinyl journey.

It’s no secret that collectors of physical media have been telling us, the masses, for years now that we must take agency over the things we like to consume. Having services such as Apple TV, Spotify, or even being able to rent books on Kindle is such a blessing in the modern day, but perhaps to truly enjoy music, books, and movies, there needs to be a sense of tangibility.

I’ve long been a Spotify subscriber, and of late, I’ve been feeling like I’m moving further away from the music because it feels so far removed from it. So I took it upon myself to make a list of my favourite albums and purchase the vinyl for them – just in case one day I won’t have access to them.  To pair with the records that I purchased, I also went digging for the best entry-level record player. That’s where I found the Audio-Technica AT-LP70Xbt.

Having a good record player is such a flex in so many ways. A vinyl is the best lossless audio quality you’ll ever experience, something we take for granted with streaming. This one by Audio-Technica runs quite smoothly, and works with most vinyl, 6” and 12”. To ensure peak sound performance, the AT-LP70 includes a three-piece, anti-resonance chassis that provides a solid foundation to dampen unwanted noise for improved sound quality. It’s produced with a dust cover to go on top, so the record stays spinning with no interruptions.

Available here.
